Charlotte Louise Robbins

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Charlotte Louise Robbins, née Mackintosh on November 16, 2025, at the age of 81 after a long and most courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis and Dementia.

Throughout her illness, Charlotte remained caring, dignified, and stoically humble. Charlotte was an empath, an intellectual, an art lover, a world traveler, and a strong supporter of Indigenous rights and culture. She was always up on world issues, rarely missed a Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra concert or a new book launch at McNally Robinson, and loved visits to museums and art galleries.

Charlotte took a sincere interest in the lives of all her family and friends, and had a quiet, warm, graceful way about her. She was an incredible wife to Brian, her devoted husband of 54 years. She was also a loving, supportive mother to daughters Catherine and Heather (Derek), and a proud grandmother to Evelyn and Holly.

She leaves behind her sister, Elizabeth Taylor (Jim), brother Gord Mackintosh (Margaret), sister-in-law Marlene Lawrence and cherished nieces and nephews. Charlotte had many dear and lifelong friends, including her oldest friend, Joan. She was predeceased by her mother and father Dorothy and Gordon Mackintosh.

Charlotte was born in Fort Frances, Ontario and left to complete an Honors Degree in Sociology and Family Studies at the University of Toronto. She worked as a vocational rehab counsellor in Thunder Bay where she met her husband, Brian. They later moved to Toronto and then eventually to Winnipeg where she worked at Family Services of Winnipeg as a family support worker dedicated to strengthening families and developing supportive communities. Her passion for this work and for quality childcare continued after retirement as a volunteer and board member of Day Nursery Centre. She spent her final years in long term care.

Charlotte will be deeply missed by all those who loved and cared for her.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the MS Society. A Celebration of Charlotte’s life will be planned for the summertime.
