It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved “Gappy”, Christopher Milton, age 70, on January 28th, 2025.
Christopher will be lovingly remembered by his wife Cindy, his daughter Tiffany (Ken) and son Paul (Kate), his granddaughters Emily and Arwyn, his grandson Lenyn, and his brother Paul. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews as well as by numerous other relatives and friends.
Christopher was predeceased by his parents Byron and Shirley Milton and his sisters Claudia Milton-Harris and Laura Milton.
Christopher was born in Winnipeg on September 26th, 1954. He grew up in Fort Garry and graduated from Vincent Massey Collegiate. He started his career working as a Jeweler for People’s Jewelers. In 1975, Chris married the girl across the street, the love of his life, Cindy, and together they raised their children while he advanced his career by working as a district manager. Throughout his career, he employed his many skills as he developed in the fields of sales, management, marketing.
Gappy, as he was fondly known as to many, was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He enjoyed many adventures with his children, nieces and nephews, and later with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed his treasured annual trips as a family to Lake of the Woods. Much time was spent exploring nature and he seemed to know how to inspire childlike wonder in anyone who would be lucky enough to “adventure” with him. Chris was a master storyteller who could captivate any audience, young or old, and who could always offer words of wisdom or ideas to ponder.
Chris had many hobbies, including a keen interest in cars, and he occasionally enjoyed the thrill of race car driving. He had a passion for boats, especially wooden boats, and enjoyed refurbishing them. Chris always had a connection with dogs. He was something of a dog whisperer and was well loved by all the dogs in his life. Chris was an absolute master in the kitchen and was a very gifted and creative cook. From making even the most basic meal to extravagantly planned menu items, his cooking was always perfect. He had a wealth of knowledge, seemed to know a little bit about everything, and was always willing to share the wisdom of his experience with others. His journey through life, including his journey through cancer, and his amazing positive outlook were always a source of inspiration to others, and he truly lived life to the fullest, one day at a time.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 21st at 2:00 PM at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home.
Memorial donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their care and compassion, as well as the team at Cancer Care for their support and care over the last 11 years.
