With heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Colin Daniel Edmond on April 4, 2014. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his mum, Beverley Geddes (Michael), dad, James Edmond (Heather, Nic, and Luke) and his brothers, Matt and Luc. He will also be dearly missed by his Nana, Margaret Brown, aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. He was pre-deceased by his loving grandparents Joan and Walt Geddes, and Gordon Edmond.
Colin arrived as our bundle of joy on May 10, 1994. Another healthy, bouncing boy, a brother for his doting older brother Matt. Later, Colin reciprocated by doting on his younger brother Luc. Our house was filled with hijinks, laughter and never ending action.
Colin was a high energy boy, full of fun and antics, and loving to explore the world. His renown for scaling heights was legendary much to his parents’ concern. He attended St John Brebeuf School, then Westgate Mennonite Collegiate and was enrolled in the Fine Arts program at the University of Manitoba. Colin always made friends easily and everyone loved him for his outgoing, fun-loving nature and easy going personality. Colin had many talents. He was a great artist, was a talented singer and as many Facebook posts attest, was the best hug-giver ever. Colin loved to travel and had many wonderful trips with his family and a special trip to Europe with his Westgate School buddies as well as the trip of a lifetime to Greece last summer. Colin played goal in hockey enjoying the thrill of keeping the puck out of the net for his teammates. He was an avid downhill skier and no one could rival his expertise on video games. He was the go-to guy for any IT problems in the household. “Really Mum? Really?”
Colin was a dedicated and valued cook at Pizzeria Gusto where he spent long hours working hard to save up for his University education. Grandma Joan and Nana Brown would agree that Colin was one of the most thoughtful, sensitive and compassionate grandsons; always ready to help with a chair, lending an arm while walking, picking up the cane, generally lightening the load with his inimitable charm. Colin's sense of humour and charisma will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His love for life and shining heart will forever bring sunshine to our lives.
A memorial service will be held at Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford Street Winnipeg on Saturday April 12, 2014 at 1:00 pm to celebrate the life of our loving son and brother.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Colin's memory to the Colin Edmond Memorial Scholarship Fund being established at Westgate Mennonite Collegiate, 86 W Gate, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2E1, (204) 775-7111, or a charity of one's choice.
We love you more than blueberries.
