Those who knew Cory have lost a shining light in their lives. Cory was part of a very large and loving family and will be missed every day by his dad John, mom Tricia, brother Austin, sister Alexee and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many, great friends. Though Cory and John lived alone as two amigos until Cory was 11, when they met Tricia, Austin and Alexee they soon became a family of five, giving Cory the family that he always felt was missing. Cory also maintained relationships with his two biological sisters Holly & Ashley and, Niece Deanara "Didi."
Cory was blessed with an indomitable spirit and a relentlessly optimistic outlook. He simply refused to be stopped by obstacles that life placed in front of him. From learning to ride his bike at age three to Karate class when he was twelve cuts and bruises could not keep him from his goals. Cory worked hard at everything he did - from flipping burgers at McDonald's as a teenager, to working in construction as a concrete finisher as a young adult. It may have taken Cory awhile to find his passion, but when he did find it, he brought that same dedication and determination to completing his apprenticeship as a Millwright. He spoke many times about how much he enjoyed the precision of work. When the union placed him at the gold mine in Snow Lake MB, he decided that he wanted to work in mining and was planning to train as a diesel mechanic and work on rock trucks after completing his Millwright training.
Cory was a loyal, caring and generous person. When he learned that his cousin Jessica was traveling to Germany to have a much needed surgery, he went straight to the ATM and withdrew his rent money to help her with the expense. There are to many examples of his generosity to mention here but he was a "shirt off his back" kind of guy. We will miss his enthusiasm, his energy, the way he would light up the room with his infectious smile. But mostly we will miss him.
With one last act of generosity Cory was able to donate his organs so that others could have a better life. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Transplant Manitoba in Cory's name.
We love you with all our heart. Till we meet again.
