Dora Teresa Gray

DORA TERESA GRAY (nee RITCHEY) On October 27, 2011 Dora passed away at Calvary Place in Winnipeg at the age of 93 years with her niece Kathy MacIver by her side. Born on February 18, 1918 in Neepawa, MB, Dora was the eldest daughter of Melville and Catherine Ritchey. Predeceased by her parents, husband Bob of 59 years, and sister Florence (Bill) Savage, Dora is survived by her daughter Lenore Gray (Ron Backman) of Langley, BC; son-in-law Michael Podolsky; sister Mary (Alex) De Groot; several nieces, nephews and cousins. For 14 years Dora was a teacher in rural Manitoba and Winnipeg. In 1951 she married Robert H. A. Gray and in 1953 gave birth to Alice Lenore. As a wife, mother and homemaker Dora was an excellent cook, talented seamstress, avid reader and keen gardener. Subsequent to a fall in June of 2008 Dora became a resident of Misericordia Health Centre and then in August, 2011 of Calvary Place Personal Care Home where she received excellent care and attention. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service in remembrance of Dora and Bob will be held Friday, November 4, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery.
