It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dorothy Smith, a beloved mother, teacher, and active member of her community, on March 20th, 2025. Dorothy passed away at the age of 77, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication.
A longtime resident of Thompson, Manitoba, Dorothy devoted her career to education, serving as a teacher for many years and impacting the lives of countless students. Her passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom, as she was deeply involved in her church and local community, always willing to lend a helping hand.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Robert (Brianna) and Katie (Marvin), who will forever cherish the wisdom and guidance she imparted upon them. She is also remembered by nieces, Donna-Jean (Clancy), Jackie (Shanker) and many friends, colleagues, and students whose lives she touched throughout her remarkable life. She was predeceased by parents, Wally and Edith, sister Gwen and son Patrick.
A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Avenue, Winnipeg on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.
