He is survived by his wife of 49 years Diane, his children Steven (Sharah) and Heather and his beautiful grandchildren, Jada, Tiegan, Jessica and Abby. Keeping him close to their hearts are his brothers Bob, Rick, Mike and Phillip and his sister Patti, his brother-in-laws Brian (Marj), Barry (Darlene) and his special cousin Alexis, as well as many nieces and nephews. Earl was predeceased by his grandson Matthew, his parents and his brother Scott.
Earl was born in Winnipeg and spent most of his life there. He was married to Diane on April 25, 1970 and their journey began. For most of his career he worked in the automotive aftermarket earning the respect of many along the way and still remains friends with many of the people he met through his work. After retirement he drove a school bus for Pembina Trails School Division for four years and loved the interaction with the children. Golf was Earl’s passion and Steven has many fond memories of the time he spent on the golf course with his dad. He was an active bowler, mostly at Coronation Bowling Alley where he made many friends. Earl was a true sports fan, supporting the Jets and the Bombers no matter if they won or lost. He enjoyed going to the Jets games with Heather and enjoyed the Bomber games with both Heather and Steven. After retirement he looked forward to his Friday lunches with his friend Jim at one of the casinos and sometimes even won a little at the slots.
Earl and Diane enjoyed the adventure of travel and were lucky to have had many adventures to the UK, Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico and many road trips throughout Canada and the USA. Three cruises with Heather and Tiegan were very special to him.
Earl was one of the kindest, most caring individuals you could ever meet. His sense of humour and his willingness to help anyone at anytime always shone through. He was our rock. The special bond he had with his granddaughter Tiegan will remain in her heart forever. Our hearts are broken. As our special song said … I’ll love you “Till”.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 10:00 am at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
