Along with Shirley, Earl will be sadly missed by his children; Mary Jane (Don), John (Kathi) and Andrew; his wonderful grandchildren Shelly and Samuel as well as many dear friends.
Earl was born in Central Butte, Saskatchewan on October 1, 1925. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII. While on leave in Halifax, he met the love of his life, Shirley Helene Purcell when he crossed the floor and asked her to dance. That dance would last the rest of his life. Earl and Shirley were married for 68 wonderful years. During this time they lived in many Canadian cities as Earl’s career with the Canadian Pacific Railway progressed. He was a longstanding member of the Free Masons and the Scottish Rite. He retired in 1984 as the General Manager of Intermodal Services after 42 years of service. Earl and Shirley were then able to start their happy adventure when they turned the family cottage in Glen Margaret, Nova Scotia into their permanent home.
At Earl’s request, a private service has taken place and there will be a family gathering at a future date in Glen Margaret, Nova Scotia.
