Oct 1, 1946 - Aug 25, 2024
Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, Ed left his "human space suit" and is off on his next adventure.
He was predeceased by his father, Richard, and his mother, Helene. He is survived by his sister Pam (Gary), his brother Doug (Carol), his children Kelly (Scott), and Ember. His grandchildren Adam and Violet. As well as many nieces and nephews and long-time friends.
Ed was a quiet Giant of a man, nicknamed "Big Ed" by loved ones. He would go out of his way to help others without any thought of being repaid for his kindness. He lived a full and wonderful life surrounded by good friends and family. He met with friends roughly once a month at "Sals" for breakfast to stay close and catch up with how they were doing.
Ed never complained. He was a great listener, his kind eyes inviting everyone to feel at ease and never judged in his presence. Ed was a huge supporter of his grandchildren and their sports; he spent countless hours driving them around and cheering them on at soccer fields, hockey rinks and gymnastics gyms.
Ed will be remembered in our hearts and sorely missed by those who love him.
Special thanks to all who helped care for him and the exceptionally loving staff at Riverview Health Centre, 3rd floor, east wing. Thank you!
At Ed's request cremation has taken place.
A celebration of Ed's life will take place Monday Sept. 16th from 2 - 4:30pm at the Winnipeg Winter Club in the riverview room.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to The David Suzuki Foundation.
