To my dear friend Dawn, Debby, Cam, Joanne, Gord and all extended family,

So extremely saddened to learn of your dear Moms passing. Your Mom was so special, I've known her almost my entire life. Always so kind and welcoming on my visits to Winnipeg,  my last in 2006 where I was so fortunate to be able to introduce her and Mr. Hyslop to my husband John. They gave me a keepsake which I cherish of the both of them sitting in Cam's little red MG looking so happy! They were so welcoming and so much fun and of course she made her delicious tea biscuits and strawberry jam to share with us.

I will so miss visiting with her this September because a trip to Winnipeg was incomplete without visiting with the Hyslop's.
Mr. And Mrs. Hyslop (yes, I still call them that even though I am in my 50's!) were such a big part of our lives while in Winnipeg and I cherish those memories of growing up across the sidewalk from this special family. 
Please know that our deepest sympathies are with all of you at this sad time, and hope that her wonderful memory and kind spirit guides and sustains you in the weeks and years ahead.

I have always loved and grown peonies as they are a nostalgic and fond reminder of Winnipeg, your Mom, and the gorgeous peonies your Mom grew beside your front door.

Dear Fran;  My sincere sorrow to you and all the Hyslop Families.  We lived in Winnipeg for 17 years just across the sidewalk and our families grew up together, with Susan and Dawn remaining friends all through the years since then, and many visits back to Winnipeg.  I looked at your Family Video many times and enjoyed the  lovely pictures through the years of your family growing up, and it brought back so many lovely memories.   I still remember little Gordon coming around the corner to borrow the "cake pan".  Wildwood was a wonderful friendly neighborhood to bring up a family, and Section D was very special.   Ed was an exceptional man, very friendly, not content to sit in a chair and relax when he retired, he started a whole new successful career from which we all benefited. I never saw him without a smile.  It is a pleasure to have known him, and I feel so sorry for your loss...........Irene MacCready, Halifax, N.S.

My heart goes out to the Hyslop family on the passing of your dear Dad,  husband, grandfather and great-grandfather.  I grew up in section D of Wildwood Park, just a hop across the sidewalk from our neighbors, the Hyslops.  And I have such fond memories of growing up there -- it was an idyllic place to be as a kid in elementary school.  While my sister was classmates with Dawn and their friendship remains, I spent many days playing with Gordon, pondering life as we sat on top of Wimpy's doghouse..... in fact, I named my first doll 'Gordon' -- hahaha!  The photos of Mr. Hyslop brought back warm memories of dear neighbors, much laughter, and the joy of growing up in Wildwood.  May your fond memories of your wonderful Dad bring you comfort in the days ahead...

I am so very saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Hyslop. I remember Mr. Hyslop with such fondness, and even though our family moved away many years ago after living across the path in Wildwood Park for 17 years, I would always pop in for a visit when back in Winnipeg. I was always welcomed with open arms and a lively discussion of some sort. Mr. Hyslop was always very well read and kept up with current affairs around the world and was so interesting and engaging to talk with. Growing up, the Hyslop family was like family to me, and Dawn and I continue to be great friends over the many years. When I'd return on a vacation to Winnipeg, it was always a great treat when Mr. Hyslop would take me to his warehouse and allow me to root around for some treasures. I am so glad I was able to visit both him and Mrs. Hyslop the last time I was in Winnipeg in 2006 with my husband, John. I am so glad my husband had the opportunity to meet the Hyslops, a family very close and dear to my heart. Our heart goes out to the family at such a difficult time and I know your memories of such a lovely husband, father and grandfather will help sustain you.
