Elizabeth Margaret Thompson

Peacefully with family by her side, Margaret passed away at West Park Manor Nursing home on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the age of 82 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Russell Thompson of 58 years, children Kevin, Jennifer & Colleen (Dan).

Margaret was predeceased by her mother & father Elizabeth & John Dickie.

Mom was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on July 2, 1939 where she resided while growing up. She graduated high school at St. Boniface College & decided to pursue her nursing degree at the St. Boniface Hospital nursing residence. She received her RN nursing degree in 1960. Russell & Margaret dated shortly after her nursing residence & married May 16, 1964, they then purchased their first home on Almond Bay in Windsor Park. In 1972 they made the move to Westwood, St. James where she began a new nursing position with Combined Care at the Grace Hospital. Mom always handled every baby born just as if it was her own! She continued her nursing career with Grace Hospital until her retirement.

Margaret's most favorite place to be was at the family cottage at White Lake in the Whiteshell. She loved the water (once she finally got in!), lawn darts, music, dancing & singin' at the bon fire & all the parties shared with many family, neighbors & close friends over the years. She was also known for her craftiness or as we called her "Martha" talents! She also had an extreme love for Christmas & would always have the most beautiful real tree but of course, no one ever believed it was real! She will always be remembered for her kind, beautiful smile, as we always hear so many say even after just meeting her for the first time... She was always smiling & just like her nursing, she wore her heart on her sleeve! If anyone ever needed anything, mom was there! Her love was never ending.

May you now rest easy & be in your happy place once again. We will love you always & forever!! The bagpipes are playing just for you! Xoxo

The family would like to also thank everyone at West Park Manor Nursing home over the past 10 years for all their care & love for Margaret.

A private gathering will be held at a later date with family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's society of Manitoba.
