AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Ernest Hudson Orpin

20 avril 1924 – 20 mars 2026
Avis de décès de Ernest Hudson Orpin
AUX SOINS DE

Thomson In The Park Funeral Home and Cemetery

Always In Our Hearts

At 101 years of age, Ernie beloved husband of Betty McCombe passed away. Survived by daughter, Sharon (Ron), grandson Jeff (Chantal), stepchildren, Greg (Laura), Heather (Brian), Cheryl, Glen, step-grandchildren (Tayla, Marley (Buddy), Peter (Maddy), Jennifer, Sarah, Breeze, Autumn, Indi, Ashley (Chad), Tyson (Shayla), Maddex), step-great-grandchildren (Zena, McKayla, Hayden, Hunter).

Predeceased by siblings (Hazel, May, Olive, Ken), daughter (Carol), son-in-law (Jack), and former wives (May and Helen).

Ernie was born in Decker, Manitoba to Albert and Hannah Orpin. He grew up on a farm with his three older sisters (Hazel, May Olive) and younger brother Ken.

In 1943, he joined the Canadian Air Force where he became an Instrument Mechanic working on Mosquito Bomber aircrafts. When the war ended in 1945, Ernie came to Winnipeg to take a Business Course through the Department of Veterans Affairs. From that point on, Ernie had numerous accounting jobs, ending with being the Executive Director of the Society of Management of Manitoba.

Ernie was very proud of his FCPA and FCMA standing within the Chartered Professional Accountants of Manitoba.

Ernie was a “stand-up” guy, always bringing energy and light into a room, and making everyone feel important. Ernie had so many interests that it was easy for him to connect to many people. He was a former softball player, curler, golfer and billiards player. His recent interests were daily suduko, crossword puzzles; and hallway strolls, and cheering on his Jets team.

Conversations with Ernie were lively and insightful. He never failed, even to the end, to find a story of his past to enlighten the listener.

He left us reluctantly. Ernie will be missed . . .

Cremation has taken place. A family graveside memorial service has been planned.

Thanks to wonderful friends and neighbours at Lindenwood Estates. Special recognition to Ernie’s billiard room buddies.

Donations may be made to Ernie’s favorite charity, Harvest Manitoba, at [email protected]
