March 6th, 1975 - March 9th, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Geoffrey Gordon Ball on March 9, 2026, at the age of 51.
Geoff was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, on March 6, 1975.
Geoff was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Michelle Hauri.
He is survived by his father Jim (Wendy), siblings Fred (Lynn), Dot (Garth), and Michelle’s family - Werner and Dianne, Christine (Bill), Dave, Karl (Lindsay), Sonya (Jon), Brian (Kim).
Predeceased by his mother, Carole - Ann Ball (née Ranta).
Geoff was a proud uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his extended family in Ontario. He will also be lovingly remembered by Michelle’s extended family near and far.
Geoff was always sharp-witted and had a wonderfully dry sense of humour. He loved photography and genealogy research. He was an avid gardener and learned a lot from his dad’s gardening expertise that he used throughout his life with Michelle. Geoff and Michelle shared a love of travel, and went on many amazing trips to Europe, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Central America, Mexico and Japan.
Geoff embraced his Finnish heritage from his mother’s side and took great pride in the sauna he built with Michelle at their home in Fort Garry. It was a true labour of love.
Geoff’s love of travel led him to live in the Région de Piedmont in northern Italy for a year, – teaching English as a Second Language. He enjoyed this experience, immersing himself in the culture and the fresh food of the region.
Geoff served in the Canadian Navy for 4 years (ship and submarine). More recently his years working at the Winnipeg Airport as a Screening Officer led to many close friendships. He always enjoyed fishing with his good friends.
Geoff left us much too soon. He was excited to be planning a family trip to Finland this fall with his uncles.
As Geoff wished, he has been cremated; he will be placed to rest close to his mom.
The funeral will be held on April 27th at 2pm at Thomson In The Park Funeral Home on McGillivray Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
