It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Grant on April 2, 2025, at the age of 69. He was born on September 13, 1955, and grew up in Oak Bluff, Manitoba.
He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Granger, and her life partner Mike; his father, Lawrence Granger, and his wife Margaret; and his beloved grandmother, Annie Suller, who raised him.
Grant will be dearly missed by his children: Nathan, Sarah (Joel), and Martin Dunn (Laura), and their mother Helen; Robin (Dion) and Leah (Joel), and their mother Jo-Anne. He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Zoe, Mason, Jackson, Gracie, Bryson, Rylan, Alina, and Olesia; and by his sister, Marcie. His loyal Shih Tzu companion, Angel, will miss him deeply as well.
Grant began working at a young age, helping his father at the Esso gas station, and later became a driver for Greyhound. As he got older, he transitioned into a career in sales for a construction company in Winnipeg, focusing on home renovations. Inspired by the potential in sales, he later pivoted to selling sunroom solariums across North America. He was a talented and hardworking salesman who loved the travel and adventure that came with the job.
In 2001, Grant was diagnosed with neck cancer and given less than a 5% chance of survival. Against all odds—and after many years of chemotherapy and surgeries—he triumphed over his cancer. In the years that followed, Grant enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, collecting all sorts of treasures, and doting on Angel.
In March 2025, Grant was admitted to Grace Hospital with a severe case of pneumonia, compounded by his ongoing battle with COPD. He fought hard for several days, but sadly, his lungs were unable to recover. During his final days, he was blessed with many visits from loving family and friends.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Grace Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre for their compassionate care.
A graveside funeral service will be held to the public on May 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
