Ian Alexander White

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Alexander White on June 23, 2025. Ian passed away peacefully in his home in Winnipeg at the age of 74.

Ian will be lovingly remembered by his wife Susan; children: Jeff, Tracy, Ian (Colleen), Dave (Lorena), and Trevor (Holly); grandchildren: Kolby, Riley, Elliott, Elias, Grayson, and Ella; and sisters: Barbara, Judy, Janet, and Jennifer, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

Ian was born on June 5, 1951, in Quebec. He was the son of Edward and Lorna and grew up in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The family moved to Winnipeg when Ian was a teen. Immediately after graduation Ian started working as a banker and was sent to Thunder Bay. In 1972 Ian moved to Churchill where he worked for Hudson’s Bay. Ian moved back to Winnipeg in 1974 where he worked for various financial institutions retiring in 2016.

Ian was a proud member of the Rotary Club of Winnipeg for many years. He took gratification in volunteering his time to help different communities.

Ian was happiest spending time at his cottage in Lake of the Woods with Susan. He enjoyed fishing and spending time out on the lake. Building and maintaining the cottage throughout the years brought him great pride.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd.
