He was born in Felsogalla, Hungary near Gyor in 1924 to parents Istvan Meszaros and Maria Meszaros.
In 1956 he left Hungary with his family and brother-in-law Sandor Szakaly's family. They were accepted as landed immigrants in Canada and were located to Winnipeg where they successfully integrated into Canadian life.
Steve was predeceased by his wife Iren, brother Josef, and sisters Panni and Iren, as well as his brother- in-law Sandor and his wife Ilona.
Left to celebrate his life are his wife Fanya and sons Steve (wife Klara) and Peter (wife Janice), and grandchildren Kathryn (husband Mark) and Steve (wife Anne), and great-grandchildren Maya, Olivia, Alex, and Theo and his two sisters in Hungary, Ica and Maria.
A service will be held on Tuesday, January 10 at 2:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
