Jovita Asuncion Samaniego

Born in Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines on December 11, 1941 – Passed away on December 18, 2025 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of our beloved Jovita Asuncion Samaniego, fondly known as Nanay Bing, who passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, at the age 84.

Nanay Bing was the heart of our family, a woman of remarkable strength. She endured life’s challenges with grace and resilience, never one to complain. She carried herself with confidence and dignity, inspiring those around her.

Passionate in everything she did, Nanay Bing lived life fully and unapologetically. She was a true fashionista, always well dressed, stylish and proud of her look, no matter the occasion. Her sense of fashion was an extension of her bold personality and love for self-expression.

She was also funny, outspoken, and wonderfully unfiltered. Nanay Bing said what she meant and meant what she said, often leaving us laughing, sometimes shocked, but always entertained. Her honesty was refreshing, her humor unforgettable, and her presence impossible to ignore.

Above all, Nanay Bing loved her family fiercely. She showed her love not only through words, but through actions, sacrifice and unwavering support. Her strength, laughter and fearless authenticity will live on in all of us who were blessed to know her.

She will be deeply missed by her only daughter Evangeline, her grandsons Juneley and Jenley (Iris), her great grandchildren Isabela, Kaliana, Elize, Jalaina, her siblings Mercedita (Marcelino) and Teresita (Danilo), her nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband (Roberto), her parents (Virgilio/Beatriz) and siblings Virginia, Jaime, Rolando, Erlinda, Josefina and Arnel.

A visitation will be held at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 1291 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg, MB on January 9, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 11:30 pm.
