She leaves to mourn her passing niece Heather; nephews Steven, Russell (Texas), Darryl (Wisconsin), and Kevin (Wisconsin); extended family; and countless friends.
Kathleen's career spanned over fifty years in the China Department at the Hudson’s Bay Company downtown store. As the Western Representative for Wedgewood, she was spoiled by the company with many trips over the years to Toronto, Vancouver, Victoria, and England.
When she wasn’t working, Kathleen loved to travel. She had a group of friends with whom she would take yearly jaunts to locations like Florida, Texas, Hawaii, Portugal, and Spain. Kathleen also looked forward to visiting the “Sunshine Coast” out West each year so that she could visit her adopted family, the Hendersons, who treated her as one of their own.
In addition to travel, Kathleen was fond of singing, both in her church choirs and within the community. She was a founding member of the Senior Citizen's Choir of Winnipeg.
Kathleen was predeceased by her parents Mary (Minnie) and George, brothers George and Leslie, sisters-in-law Isabelle and Shirley, and niece Susan (Poole) Harvey.
As per Kathleen's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, April 7 at 2:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, with a private interment to follow at a later date.
Special thanks to the caring staff at Lion's Place, Pembina Place Personal Care Home, and the Winnipeg Clinic (especially Dr. C. Loepp, Dr. J. Awad, and Linda). We are indebted to Christy Mackenzie from WRHA Home Care who went above and beyond.
An extra special “thank you” to Ron and Carol-Ann Poettcker for all they did for Kathleen over the years.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Kathleen's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.
