With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to our beloved mother Letekidan.
Letekidan was born in Tigray near Adwa City, the third of five children born to her parents, Asfaw Beyene and Askual Gebreegziabher.
Her childhood was marked by the early loss of her mother, a tragedy that deeply shaped her life.
Soon after, she and her sister moved to Addis Ababa to live with their aunt, where they continued their education at the renowned King Menelik School.
She married at a young age and went on to raise nine children, each of whom she cherished with all her heart. Letekidan was the embodiment of devotion—not only as a mother, but also as a loving and loyal wife. She shared a lifelong bond with her husband, standing by his side until his passing 12 years ago.
She was known for her strength, determination, warmth, kindness, and elegance. Her compassion, meticulous nature, and unwavering love for her family touched everyone who knew her.
After a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease, Letekidan passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Her final moments were filled with the warmth, care, and presence of those who meant the most to her.
She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
