With her children by her side, our mother was gathered by her Angels and taken to meet our Dad, her husband, Roger Jules Brick, who has been waiting for her since his passing in 2013. Mom was predeceased by her son-in-law Ken Moe, grandson Cody Rempel, great-grandson Branden Miller, and grandson-in-law Dennis Bruneau.
Margaret is survived by her children; Linda (Ken), Marilyn (Bob), George (Lynn), Jo-Anne (Keith), Theresa (Denis). Also cherishing her memory are her 16 grandchildren: Jesse, Katie (Joel), Zoey (Ryan), Vanessa (Dennis), Ryan (Denise), Jeff (Michaelle), Chad (Laura), Krista (Matt), Matt (Chelsea), Melissa (Marcus), Courtney (Corey), Adam (Kirsten), Jordy (Derek) Cody, Kayla and Evan along with her 19 great-grandchildren and her sister Bertha. She is loved and missed by so many.
Margaret was born in Fort Whyte, Manitoba and grew up on her family farm Model Dairies where she began a journey of hard work and dedication to family. Mom met our Dad and married him on
June 28, 1949. They settled on their own farm in Fort Whyte and started a family of their own. Mom worked hard caring for her children while market-gardening and helping on the farm. Her strong body and determined nature carried her well throughout her long life.
Mom gave generously to her children. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren became the focus of her life and her greatest joy. Mom loved nothing better than to beat her children and grandchildren at cards or her weekly Bingo games over zoom. Her competitive nature always put a smile on her face when she won! The success of her family gave her great pride. After they retired, Mom and Dad loved to travel and enjoyed their cottage with their family around them. Her knitting became a favourite pastime, and she gave slippers to everybody she knew. Mom loved going to church and prayed faithfully for many people every night.
A special thank you to the Lindenwood Terrace team who cared for her during a particularly difficult time of Covid-19 when Mom was isolated during lockdown. Their love and care sustained her along with her dear friend Alice who checked in on her regularly as well as her friend Mary.
A very special thank you to Southern Health Palliative Care Program; Brigitte, Bernice, Marnie and Dr. Wolke who made bringing Mom to our home not only possible, but they gave us the strength and confidence to care for her. There are not enough kind words to describe how important they are to us. Her long-time physician Dr. Hayward, her champion, worked with the Southern Health team which made her feel comforted. This team made it possible for her to live out her final months with the comfort of home and family during a Global Pandemic. There are no words to describe our gratitude.
The Family will announce the date for a Celebration of Life and Interment once the current Covid-19 restrictions allow.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Heart and Stoke Foundation of Manitoba.
