

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marian Cristea after a heroic battle against a devastating disease, ALS, surrounded by his loving wife, child, and friends.
Marian was predeceased by his parents, Maria and Constantin. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Alexandra, and 10-year-old son, Daniel.
Marian was born in Constanta, Romania, and attended “Mircea Cel Batran” High School in his hometown, and graduated as Engineer from the Faculty of Electronics, Bucharest, Romania. He immigrated to Canada in 2002. He practiced as a Technologist at Parker Hannifin and JCA Electronics in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and later in life he joined the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves, becoming Officer (2Lt) with the 38 Service Battalion. He only retired when his illness made it impossible for him to continue.
The family would like to send their heartfelt thanks to all staff of the ALS Society of Manitoba and VIP Home Care, all private contractors and friends helping with Marian’s home care services, the doctors and nurses at the Deer Lodge ALS Clinic, Respiratory Ward at HSC, Pembina Medical Clinic and ICMS services at St. Boniface Hospital.
A viewing will be held at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard on Wednesday, February 7th from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
The funeral mass and repast meal will be held at Saint Demetrios Romanian Church, 103 Furby Street, Winnipeg, MB on Thursday, February 8th, at 12.p.m. (noon), followed by a traditional burial service at the St. Norbert Cemetery, 898-870 Avenue Ste Therese, Saint-Norbert at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society of Manitoba, 2A - 1717 Dublin Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3H 0H2.
