It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather, Lorenzo Gadaleta. Lorenzo passed away peacefully at the age of 85 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
He was predeceased by his parents, Pasquale and Maria Luisa as well as his brother, Peppino.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Julia, his daughters Marisa (Gren), Teresa (Gilles), Patricia (Jim); as well as grandchildren, Melanie (Brett), Chris, Nick (Jerica), Savannah, Matthew, Julia and great-granddaughter, Jessa. He is survived by his brothers and sisters in Italy as well as extended family in both Italy and Australia.
Lorenzo was born in Molfetta, Italy and immigrated his family to Winnipeg in 1968.
He worked as an electronic technician with various employers. After working for 22 years at JJH McLean, he fully retired at age 63.
Once retired he devoted his time for many years to Holy Rosary Church and to the Knights of Columbus where he found great satisfaction helping others.
He loved his family unconditionally, always putting them before himself. He enjoyed watching old movies, listening to 50’s music, telling detailed stories about his youth, playing a good card game of Scopa and sipping espresso coffee with a little shot of Sambuca.
He appreciated a good joke and his laugh was infectious.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and attending staff of the St. Boniface Hospital for their care and support during his final days.
Due to the COVID restrictions, a private service took place on Thursday, September 3 at Holy Rosary Church. Entombment took place at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum and Assumption Cemetery.
A nostro babbo, nonno, marito e suocero, Dio ti benedica. Resta in pace. Until we meet again.
