AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Max Cohen

Avis de décès de Max Cohen
AUX SOINS DE

Thomson In The Park Funeral Home and Cemetery

It is with sadness, the family announces the passing of our Patriarch, Max.

Max was born and raised in the Interlake; as a young man he moved to Winnipeg where he learned the furrier trade. He worked in the manufacturing of fur coats for most of his working life. He suffered a heart attack and was later advised to retire. He continued to work with furs making fur mitts for family and friends.

He married Shirley Polsky in 1944 and they had a daughter Sharon who he adored. In 1967 he married Deanna and raised her two daughters as his own. His extended family included grandchildren and great grandchildren in addition to many nieces and nephews.

Max enjoyed fishing trips on the Winnipeg River system and Lake Winnipeg. He achieved the master angler award for a couple of his catches. Having family come together on summer weekend or gift exchanges at Wildwood Park were happy occasion spent with him.

Max was predeceased by all his siblings, Eva Rae, Boris, Louis, Allen (Izzy), Meyer, daughter Cheryl Bohn, and great granddaughter Keera Yestrau.

This is a passing of someone who lived through many epic changes to our way of life. From using the horse and buggy to travel to Beausejor as a boy to watching the moon landings. He was always interested in astronomy and science. He loved to sit and listen to music as he was reading his National Geographic magazine.

Deanna has always been a steadfast support for him and the family. Keeping in touch with all the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helping us all to have a good time and happy memories with her and Zaida Max.

We will miss the cheerful smiles and laughter he share with us all. It is amazing that he lived to such an age despite suffering a massive heart attack as a young man. He continued to enjoy life even though he no longer had a lot of physical strength. When Sharon and her husband Keith would return home from a cruise he would look forward to reading Keith’s daily journal. It was like he relived our travels and absorbed the sights and sounds of the places we visited when he watched the video discs we made for him and Deanna.

He enjoyed watching nature programs. Also, working with his hands, he made corner brackets decorated with scroll saw cutouts. He used these to place nick knacks around the house and some he gave away to family and friends.

Zaida Max will be sadly missed by his grandchildren and their families. He loved to see the little ones and would give them hugs and kisses.

In his later years there were many trips to Victoria General Hospital. The doctors, nurses and support staff always provided him with compassionate care. His neighbors in Wildwood Park were always very helpful. Anytime day or night when Deanna called for help they would respond right away by providing support/help until the paramedics arrived. They also cleared the lane of snow and ice.

Max lived a long life and shared many good times with children and extended family.

Rest in Peace Zaida Max, you will be missed.
