Nancy Kolthof (Broesky) died peacefully at the age of 61 on January 9th, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones in Winnipeg. She passed on into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ after a long battle with several cancers and rheumatoid arthritis. Strong, Courageous and Fighter are just a few words to describe our loving Wife, Mother, Grandma, Sister, Auntie and Friend.
Nancy was born on April 15th,1961 in Steinbach. She was the 9th of 10 children born to Jake and Joyce Broesky. Over her life she lived in La Broquerie, Regina, Vita and Winnipeg. She always spoke of loving the times as a teenager when she worked alongside of her dad on the farm in Vita. Her dad always said she was such a hard worker.
Nancy is lovingly remembered by her husband Bruce of 41 years, her son Joshua (Lisa) and her daughter Naomi (Matt), her grandchildren Zachariah, Malachi, Mila, Phineas, Oliver and Ellie, her siblings Joan (John), Kathy, Robert (Shelly), Joyce (Bill), Carol (Blaine), Colleen (Nick), Mother-in-law Loraine Kolthof, and many other family members.
She was greeted in heaven by her parents Jake and Joyce Broesky and her 3 infant siblings James, Judith and Jacob, her father-in-law Hank Kolthof and her brother-in-laws Rick and Roger.
Nancy always enjoyed travelling, having company over and playing endless games of scrabble with her brother Robert and her daughter Naomi. Her true love was family. Her children were her life and the treasures of her heart. We will miss our morning talks about nothing while driving in the car, traveling, and the adventures we created. Nancy also enjoyed late nights outside on her deck having a Corona with her son Joshua.
She was always there anytime of the day and was careful to make sure everyone was treated equal, fair and that no one went without. She loved sharing God’s word and enjoyed making songs out of Bible verses to help us remember them.
Nancy was a dedicated employee, manager and mentor at The Original Pancake House for over 35 years. She worked hard and was there day and night. Her staff were like her second family and many were lifelong friends.
A special thanks to Bruce who showed us by example how to love through sickness and in health. He honoured his vows by lovingly caring for Nancy, even in the hardest of times.
We are all grateful to Nancy’s siblings, who wanted to be her bone marrow match and to Colleen who was chosen, giving her a second chance at life. Also, to Joan who looked after Nancy, to Kathy for helping clean the condo, and to John for driving her around.
A special thanks to Oliver and Genevieve Plett who were there for Nancy and all of us the entire journey.
Many thanks to Dr. Sheldon Permack, Sandy Singleton, Scott, Dr. Ramandip Singh, Dr. David Szwajcer, Sherese, the HSC-GD6 medical team, the Palliative care team in home, and the Palliative care unit at St. Boniface Hospital for all care and compassion you gave Nancy.
