Natalina Scerbo

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our amazing mother, adored grandmother and great-grandmother Natalina; surrounded by her family on August 13, 2024 at the age of 97.

She leaves to forever cherish her memory her son Tom (Mary Scerbo) and daughter Lina Guzzi (Tony). She was very proud of her grandchildren; Venessa Pallone (Tony), Michael Guzzi (Ashleigh), Tom Jr (Connie Scerbo), Robert (Rachelle Scerbo) and Dina (Peter Cappellano), and also her great-grandchildren; Luca, Marco, Siena, Alessa, Matteo, Kaleb, Cali, Francesco, Valencia, Sabrina (Justin), and great-great-grandchild Myla, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by; Pietro, the love of her life for 65 years, her father Raffaele Loschiavo, mother Maria (Trefiletti), infant daughter Maria, sisters Caterina and Angelina, brothers Francesco and Giovanni, and her great-grandchildren, infant twins Ollie and Pauli.

Natalina was born on December 21, 1926 in Amato, Catanzaro, Italy. She and her two children came to join her husband in Winnipeg in 1957, where they started their new life. After only a few days, she found work in a garment factory, although she didn’t speak a word of English. Mom worked at both Perth’s and Quinton’s. Natalina was a devoted and loving wife, mother, Nonna, pro Nonna, aunt and friend to so many. Her greatest joy in life was her family, who she put above anything else. Having the family together meant everything to her. She showed her love in so many ways, but she especially loved to cook and bake for her loved ones and enjoyed gardening just as much. Natalina touched the hearts of everyone who met her and especially those lucky enough to be her family or friend. Her kind nature was truly unmatched. She loved being around people and easily made friends. She had a special smile for everyone.

We would like to give a special thank you for all of the love, care and compassion given by the wonderful staff at Misericordia Place (MP2) to their “Mama”. Mom enjoyed her time at MP2 with her 108 year old sister, until she passed last year. A special thanks to Dr. Jain and a very special thank you message to Dr. Brian Sharkey for all the care over the years.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Parish Church, 510 River Ave. with Reverend Father Michael Raj Savarimuthu officiating. Viewing and condolences will begin at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Street. Pallbearers will be; Michael Guzzi, Tony Pallone, Luca Pallone, Marco Pallone, Tom Scerbo Jr, Robert Scerbo.

Flowers are graciously declined. Donations may be made in Natalina’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Cancer Care Manitoba.
