Roberto Baloy Samaniego, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, at the age of 86. He was surrounded by his family in his final moments.
Born on March 4, 1939, in Kawit, Cavite, Philippines, he lived a life marked by hard work, humility, and deep devotion to God and the people he loved. He came to Canada in 1991 and settled in Winnipeg with his wife. Throughout his life, he was known for his gentle spirit, and unwavering kindness. He touched many lives with his generosity, wisdom, and warm smile.
He is survived by his wife Jovita, his daughter Evangeline, his grandsons Juneley, Jenley (Iris), his sister Luzminda Geluz (her children), his sister-in-law Amelia Samaniego (Avelina & Ernesto) and his great grandchildren (Isabela, Kaliana, Elize, Jalaina) who will forever cherish the memories and lessons he shared. He is also remembered fondly by his nieces, nephews and extended family and friends from Canada, US, the Philippines and abroad, and all whose lives were brightened by his presence.
Roberto valued family above all. He was happiest surrounded by those he loved—sharing meals, telling stories, offering gentle advice, or simply enjoying the comfort of being together. His legacy of love, patience, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
A lamay/wake will be held on December 12, 2025, at Thomson in the Park Funeral Home from 6pm-1130pm, with prayers starting at 7pm. Family and friends are invited to come together to honour his memory and celebrate a life well lived.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Homecare program for their compassion and care for Roberto.
Though we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing he is now at peace and reunited with God and loved ones who have gone before him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
