Sardara Singh Bhullar

August 22, 1915 – June 17, 2011

Sardar Sardara Singh Bhullar of Winnipeg passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks Hospital, on June 17, 2011 surrounded by family. Survived by wife Karnail Kaur Bhullar, Sons, Manjit Singh Bhullar(Devinder Kaur), Kuldip Singh Bhullar(Sharanjit Kaur), Pardeep Singh Bhullar(Mohny Kaur). Daughters Satwinder Kaur(Surinder Singh Sidhu), Balwinder Kaur (Balwinder Singh Dhillon), Harvinder Kaur (Adarshpreet Singh Sandhu - UK) , all grandchildren.

He was a brave soldier in World War II, loving husband, father and grandfather who loved equality, justice and peace. He was loved by everyone, especially his extended family and friends.

Born in Kokri Kalan (Moga, Punjab) on August 22, 1915, a decorated veteran of the Indian/British Army. He lived 1/3 of his life in Winnipeg, MB. Back home in India and here in Canada, he gained much respect and honor in the community. He was an elder leader in the community and will be dearly missed by all.

He served the village of Kokri Kalan by serving as member of the Panchiat, President of the Cooperative Bank of Moga and as a social worker. People loved working with him and he was an active member of the Gurdwara congregation in Winnipeg.

He understood and encouraged the value of knowledge and education; he established a scholarship for school children in Kokri Kalan.

Surrounded by his family, Sardar Sardara Singh Bhullar passed away peacefully on June 17, 2011 nearly 96 years after his birth. The Bhullar family would like to express special thanks to the staff and doctors at Seven Oaks Hospital who took very good care of him. We would also like to thank Thomson Funeral Home for providing this service.

Papa Ji will be sadly missed by family and friends.
