It is with great sorrow, that we announce the peaceful passing of Saverina (Rina) Romeo on August 11, 2025 with her loving family by her side. She was 87 years old.
She will be dearly missed by her son Tony (Mary), daughter Anna (Jeff), grandchildren Rina (Mico), Anthony (Cecilia) and Wayne; step-grandson Keanen; great-grandchildren Adriano, Marco and Cristiano. As well to mourn her passing are her sisters Diana, Ersilia and Silvana Rossi; her brothers-in-law Augusto Romeo (Caterina) and Mario Cisotto; her sisters-in-law Maria Falvo and Antonietta Ritrovato and also numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Oreste Romeo, by both parents Carmelo and Francesca Rossi, her brother Antonio and his wife Filomena Rossi and her brothers-in-law Carmine Scarpino, Nuccio Bertelli and Francesco Terranova.
Rina was born in Amato, Italy on March 29, 1938 and in 1956 at 18 years old she immigrated alone to Canada. In July, 1956 Rina married Oreste Romeo and they settled in Transcona where their two children were born in 1957 and 1961. When the children were older, Rina went to work at Woolco where she enjoyed working for many years.
Rina was a very dedicated and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was always determined to provide only the very best for her family. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she loved spending time with them. She especially enjoyed spending time with her husband and family at the cottage at Star Lake during the summer months. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she took so much pride to see them grow up and be part of their lives. They meant so much to her and they always brought a smile to her face.
Rina enjoyed being with people and was always caring, helping and thoughtful and shared many great times with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed cooking, gardening and knitting. She absolutely loved Italian music and was always singing her favorite Italian songs with family and friends.
She will forever be in our hearts and forever be in our memories. We love you very much and you will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
