Sylvia Elisabeth Kandera

A calm and gentle soul, Sylvia will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 61 years, Fred Kandera.

She was predeceased earlier this year by her daughter Yvonne Poot.

Sylvia is survived by her daughters Michelle McDougall and Sonia Kandera; husband Amir Faiz; grandchildren Ryan Poot (Tasha Weber), Colin Poot; and son-in-law Marc Poot, Samantha Friesen (Joel) and Emily McDougall and their dad Jim McDougall.

She will also be dearly missed by many friends and relatives both in Canada and in Europe, particularly her sisters Hilde Ruh Albert and Frigga Berger and her husband Fritz along with their families.

Sylvia was born on January 14th, 1934 in Mistelbach, Austria. She was the 3rd of 5 children, predeceased by her brother Erich and her sister Nitha.

She married Alfred Kandera on June 18th, 1955 and had a long, loving marriage that included lots of travel and family time and lots of smiles and laughing.

Her loving nature will forever be remembered and missed.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 10:00 am at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sylvia’s name to The Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8.
