The Winnipeg golf community and the Green Bay Packers football club lost a “Gentle Giant”, Jim “Jimmy” Roy, a true gentleman who taught so many the game of golf. He was the Packer’s #1 fan and season ticket holder. Jim passed away peacefully on Feb 5, 2025. He will be missed by many.
Jim is survived by his sister Kathy, his son Scott, sister-in-law Linda, niece Julie and family, nephew Mitch and family, and nephew Tommy and family. Predeceased by his parents William and Julia, brother Billy, nephews Geoff and Gordon. Jim grew up in Pine Falls, MB where golf and sports were a big part of his life. Following in his brother’s footsteps he became a PGA golf pro, including many years at St.Boniface, and later years at Wildewood where he was instrumental in rebuilding the membership. Always quick witted, and ready to talk sports.especially about his beloved Packers. He was a big presence wherever he was and will be sadly missed.
Cremation has already taken place. Goodbye Jim, “May the wind always be at your back”.
