Avis de décès de Anne Speas Bradford
AUX SOINS DE

Vogler Funeral & Cremations at Forsyth Memorial Park

(Claudia) Anne Speas Bradford, 80 years of age, passed away Saturday morning, March 15, 2025 at her home in Raleigh, North Carolina, after a six-month fight with cancer under the care of Transitions Hospice of Raleigh. Anne was attended by her loving husband and two devoted sons.

Anne spent her childhood in Winston-Salem where she was a member of First Baptist Church on Fifth Street. She attended Reynolds High School, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and received her Masters of Education from Gardner-Webb University. She taught 6th grade in Tampa, Florida while her husband was in the Air Force and joined him for 16 months as they lived in Tokyo, Japan. They returned to reside in Los Angeles where she worked as a legal secretary for a number of years. In 1982, they came back to North Carolina where she taught 4th and 5th grades at several schools in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System. Her love of history and social studies made her an outstanding candidate for and recipient of the National Board Certified Teacher award in 2003 before retiring from the classroom in 2011. She loved teaching, her many students and maintained an active contact with several over the years. She also loved literature and was an avid reader.

Anne leaves behind her husband of fifty-seven years, Steve, son David and his daughter Evelyn, and son John and his wife Jill with children Owen, Kate and Caroline, all of Raleigh, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Elizabeth, and her father, Dr. William P. Speas, Jr. and mother Letha (Sonny) Jordan Speas.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Transitions LifeCare of Raleigh, North Carolina and their Hospice Division. A special Thank You is extended to Lauren Crotty, RN, for her kindness, professionalism and caring attitude. A sad time was made bearable and memorable with great dignity.

A private family graveside service is planned at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem.
