Betty Lou Whitaker Goode

Betty Whicker Goode, 89 of Kernersville, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 19, 2017. Betty was born in Forsyth County, NC on April 2, 1928 to Baxter and Ella Whicker. She was a lifelong member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church where she was a choir member for most of her life. She was also a longtime member of Walker Sunday School Class, and played church softball into her 60’s. As well as her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband; Floyd “Bill” Hanes Goode, a daughter; Cynthia Lynn Goode, and five brothers and four sisters. Surviving are her children; Jerry Goode (Dee), Michael Goode (Ellen), and Jill G. Mooney (Scott), eleven grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Betty’s proudest accomplishment in her life was her family, which she loved dearly. A visitation will be held Monday May 22, 2017 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church from 1PM-1:45PM with funeral service following at 2PM with Reverend Dave Cash, Reverend Karen Smith, and Reverend Mike Goode officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her name to Sedge Garden United Methodist Church; 794 Sedge Garden Rd. Kernersville, NC 27284.
