Charles P. Richmond was born in Winston Salem, NC on August 20th, 1961, to Mildred Louise McFarlin Dobson and Warren L. Richmond. Charles was the 4th of 6 children - David Richmond, Olan Richmond, Keenan Richmond, Trae Dobson and Tiffany Tucker. In 1967, the family relocated to San Mateo, California. Charles resided in a few locations in California including Menlo Park and Salinas.
In his youth, Charles excelled in sports. During his high school years, he lettered in football, track and field, and baseball. He even earned scholarship offers for all three sports. In his adult years, he played semi-pro baseball and then on several travel softball teams.
After moving back to North Carolina, Charles would meet the love of his life, Lori Skeen Richmond in 2005. After several years of dating, Charles & Lori would wed on April 18, 2009. On March 19th, 2012, they welcomed their only child Kendra Nicole Richmond. Charles was so proud to be Kendra’s dad, she was his pride and joy. He enjoyed taking her to amusement parks where they would ride roller coasters together all day long.
Those who knew Charles will always remember his compassion and kindness, the love for his family and friends, and being a softball enthusiast. But most of all Charles was known for his larger-than-life smile and hearty laughter. During his life Charles played on many softball teams, even starting a few. He was an excellent player and coach, but his true passion was being an umpire. He served as an umpire for Forsyth County for over a decade and umpired several national tournaments for ASA.
Charles took such pride in being an umpire locally and nationally. Although he loved calling the games, it was the friends that he met through umpiring that meant the most to him. Sam, Todd, Katie, and Mr. Bailey were a huge part of his life, and he had a place in his heart for each of you.
Charles would transition to his new home in Christ on January 14, 2024. Charles was preceded in death by both parents, his siblings Olan and Tiffany and his nephew David Jr. Left to carry on Charles’ memory is his loving wife Lori and beautiful daughter Kendra, his brothers David, Keenan (Annie), Trae and Jody (Tracey) Skeen. His nephews Dolan (LaDorian) Richmond, Anson Richmond, and his nieces Gianna Richmond, Sarabeth Skeen, Typhani, Amil and Makynzie Richmond and too many cousins and friends to mention
