Donald W. Fitzgerald

Donald Weaver FitzGerald, 84, went home to be with the Lord on July 30, 2016. He was born on June 7, 1932 to Clarence and Lucy FitzGerald in Providence, Rhode Island. Don graduated from the University of South Carolina and proudly served his country as a Lieutenant Junior Grade Communications Officer in the United States Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Shiflet FitzGerald. Don is survived by his two “number one sons” John (Jerrie Lynn) FitzGerald and Steve (Sandra) FitzGerald; a sister, Lois Lester ; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many loved ones and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on August 04, 2016 at Forsyth Memorial Park with Pastor Roger Baker and Associate Pastor Scott Vernon from Calvary Baptist Church in King officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the FitzGerald home in Clemmons following the service. Many thanks and much gratitude to the ICU staff at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and Kate B. Reynold’s Hospice for the loving care given to Don.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his honor to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem.
