Frances Keasler Hooks was born Frances Ann Keasler on May 31, 1933. She was ninety years old when she passed away on March 23rd, 2024 in the Walnut Cove Health and Rehabilitation Center, Walnut Cove, North Carolina.
Frances graduated from Watts Hospital School of Nursing as a Nurse Anesthetist. She worked thirty five years, maintaining the high level of excellence required by her profession, and became Chief Anesthetist at Forsyth Memorial Hospital before her retirement.
In November of 1956, Frances married Grover L. Hooks Jr. The marriage lasted fifty-eight years. The coupled had three children as they moved in pursuit of dream jobs and better homes, building a good life together. In 1973, the family settled in Winston-Salem, and decades later Frances and Grover decided to retire there.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents, JC and Elizabeth; her brother, Jack; and her husband, Grover. She leaves behind three children, Lee, Beth, and Jeff; four grandchildren, Rachel, Joel, Ashlynn, and Lillith; as well as three great grandchildren, Jordan, Allie, and Avett.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 28th at 1pm at Vogler Funeral & Cremations. Frances will be inurned next to her husband at Maple Springs United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
