King, NC – Mrs. Gale Shelton, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. She was born on June 22, 1942 in Manhattan NY to the late Francis Eric Drake and Anne (Gibbs) Drake.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Drake.
She is survived by her children, Emily Hedrick Greenwood and John Christian Hedrick along with their spouses Wayne Greenwood and Janine Berard Hedrick. Loving her large family, she leaves behind grandchildren (Megan Bailey, Nicholas Hepler, Catherine Hepler, Grant Hepler, Chris Greenwood, Shelley Greenwood, Ella Hedrick) and great-grandchildren (Ava Vaughn, Elizabeth Greenwood, Reid Vaughn, Cassidy Smith, Emily Boyles, Bryleigh Knight) with beautiful memories. Gale is survived by her younger brother, Douglas Drake and his wife Candace and two sons Tracy and Alan.
Gale was a retired lower school librarian from Forsyth Country Day School where she shared her love of reading with so many children. She also loved painting, visiting with friends and attending church.
Following a private graveside service, a gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 11am – 12 noon in the Celebration Hall at Vogler Funeral and Cremations on the grounds of Forsyth Memorial Park, 3815 Yadkinville Road, Winston-Salem NC.
