A Loving husband, father, and grandfather survived by his wife of 51 years, Brenda, his sister Carol, George and Brenda’s four children, Bryan, Kristen, John, and Joshua, and their 9 grandchildren, Aaliyah, Robert, Andre, Aalyssa, Zoe, Oden, Ethan, Isaiah, and Aralynn.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Albert Rawe and Marjorie Helen Vogle Rawe, his sister Judith Anne Shamp, and his grandchildren Aariyanna, Noah, and Bryson.
He retired from the United States Navy in 1992, after 22 years of dutiful service as a Boiler technician chief.
After several years of working for Lorillard he retired in 2016.
George Rawe was a man who liked to keep busy. He filled his time with hobbies and spending time with his family. He and Brenda loved to go on adventures. A few of his favorite adventures were a camping trip to Cherokee Nc, where they went to Dollywood & rock mining, a stay at the Disney camp ground, and several small train rides
He was known for his witty sense of humor and love of trains. He always had a joke or story to tell. His pride and joy was his train room, a space he filled with all things train related, from lanterns to train sets. He was happiest sitting in there running his trains and telling you the history behind various trains, or showing you the newest train car he was building.
A funeral service is being held Friday, April 8th 2022 at 11 am at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 4691 Vienna-Dozier Rd Pfafftown, NC.
