

Captain George Taylor “Jake” Jacobs, 83, of Winston-Salem died on Friday, April 29, 2016 at his home with his family by his side.
George was born in Pontiac, SC on August 11, 1932 a son to the late George Luther Jacobs and Leslie Elizabeth Taylor Jacobs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Jacobs. Jake was of the Baptist Faith. Captain Jacobs retired from the US Marine Corps after 26 years of service. He also retired from Wake Forest Baptist Heath in 2001 after 25 years of service as the associate director of Safety and Security for Risk Management. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kitty Jacobs of the home; son Michael R. Jacobs of Winston-Salem; grandson Noah Jacobs of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister in law, Imogene Mealer of Knoxville, TN; brother in law, Edgar Orrick and wife, Norma of Knoxville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11 AM, on Tuesday, May 3rd at Forsyth Memorial Park with Pastor Sam Hickerson officiating will full military honors. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 until 8 PM at Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home, Reynolda Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the West Team Hospice Care and Wake Forest Baptist Health Oncology Team Cancer Center for their love, care, and support while Captain George Jacobs was in their care.
