

Winston-Salem- Mrs. Josephine Taylor Walker, 85, died Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 2PM at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with Reverend Gary Mahathey officiating. A private inurnment will take place at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham.
She was born in Athens, Greece to the late Raymond E. and Carolyn Baldwin Taylor. She was a graduate of Reynolds High School and of Wellesley College with a degree in history. Although Mrs. Walker had a full time job raising four sons she also found time to work away from home. She worked for Newsweek Magazine in New York City, at Salem College she worked as a librarian, spent time in the realty business and served as a guide in Bethabara Park. Mrs. Walker enjoyed tending her rose garden and was a gourmet cook. She loved animals, was an avid reader and travelled world-wide with her husband of sixty one years, Moses Albert Walker, Jr. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
She was deeply involved with her family and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her husband of the home; sons, Michael T. Walker and fiancé Susan Chilton of Winston-Salem, Stephen E. Walker of Chattanooga, TN, Cpt. (USN- Ret.) Raymond A. Walker and wife Joan of Chesapeake, VA and Moses Albert Walker, IV of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Grace Walker, Eric Walker, Moses A. “Mo” Walker, V, and Ryan Walker; and great-grandchildren, Caroline and Zoe Walker.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1PM prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritans Ministries, 1243 Patterson Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, UT 84741.
