Linda Christine (Blizard) Nelson

Linda was born on March 28, 1940, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Burris Blizard and his wife Elizabeth “Bessie” Angel Blizard. Linda was one of three children, having brothers Richard and Jerry whom she loved very much and was very close to.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers.

Linda was employed by Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in medical administration. She taught swimming at the YMCA, and also bowling. She loved playing cards, traveling with friends to the beach, cruises, and having fun. Linda attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Winston Salem.

Linda was married to Robert Nelson. This marriage was blessed with one daughter, Susan Renae. Linda also enjoyed the blessing of her grandchildren, Alicia Allen and her husband Chris, and Robert Drady and his wife Izzy, and her great-grandchildren, Scarlet, Lyra, and Emelia.

She is survived by her daughter and her grand and her great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank everyone for attending and their love and support. Special thanks to Corrine, Donna, Marilyn and Meaghan and to family for traveling to see her on her journey home. Blessed be her memory.

A visitation for Linda will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 9:00 AM at Vogler Funeral and Cremations @ Forsyth Memorial Park, 3815 Yadkinville Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM officiated by Rev. Philip Vangen. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.
