He was born on July 22, 1945 in Skowhegan, Maine to the late Everett Works and Dora Fitzmaurice Works Chase. Lloyd was a selfless individual who dedicated his life to helping others.
After graduating R.J. Reynolds High School in 1964, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a SP5 with the 1st Platoon, 18th Aviation Company in Danang, Vietnam. During this time, Lloyd was a dedicated crew chief for various aircraft which led to his passion for mechanics. He continued his dedication as an A & P Mechanic for Piedmont Airlines/US Air for over 36 years. In his spare time, Lloyd enjoyed working on cars and building race engines for micro midgets, mini sprints, and sprint race cars. His engines won many races. If you wanted to be the best and win, Lloyd was the man to go to.
Lloyd gave back to his community with his time and his heart by being a volunteer firefighter and rescue squad member at Mt. Tabor Fire Department. He selflessly saved the lives of others for 15 years. His caring heart and love for people was shown to everyone he met throughout his life.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 49 years, Glenda Hatley Works; daughter, Melissa Works and her partner, Michael Bickford; grandchildren, Nikki Chaney and her partner, Daniel, Natalie Chaney and her partner, Coey, Elise Bickford, and Nathan Bickford; sister, Margaret Renegar; and many other loved family members and friends. Lloyd was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Everett, and David Works.
To know, LLoyd was to love LLoyd. He filled our days with love, laughter, kindness and wisdom. He saw the good in any situation and on any given day. We should all view our days as he once said, “They are all good days, some are just better than others.”
