

Mr. Peter Wilson Greene, 76, of Ft. Myers, FL, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2010 while at Springwood Care Center. He was born in Atlanta, GA to J. Durwood and Lucile Hymer Greene. Mr. Greene was a member of Cypress Lake Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon and sang in the choir. He held a number of degrees from various colleges. He graduated from Georgia State College in Atlanta, GA with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration; Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY; and The Kent School of Social Work at The University of Louisville in Louisville, KY with a degree in Social Work. Mr. Greene used his degrees in working with at-risk children and families. He also used them in his ministry with others as well as a testimony through his works as a Christian Artist.
Mr. Greene is preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy Reed Greene; sister, Virginia Wells; nephews, Rolland Cottrill, Jr. (Cynthia), H. Donald Wells, Jr. (MiSon), and Ed Smith; nieces, Michelle Robinson, Kimberly Walker, Pollyanna Kamali (Kamran), Shaharazad McDowell, Terri Goss (C.W.); great-nephews, Peter Wells, Keyon Kamali, and Ian Goss; great-nieces, Lacie Robinson (also goddaughter), Sorayah Kamali, and Eryn Goss; sisters-in-law, Mary Reed and Judy McDowell (Gary); and family-in-love, Grover and Opal Parker, Larry and Bonnie McDowell, Billy and Robin McDowell, and Barry "Spook)" McDowell.
A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at 2 p.m., at Vogler and Sons Reynolda Chapel. A Memorial Service in Ft. Myers, Fl. will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, his wife, Nancy, would prefer to accept donations to the Visual & Performing Arts Council in his name. Checks may be made payable to WFUBMC, designated for the Visual and Performing Arts Program in the name of Peter Greene and either dropped in a basket provided at the service or mailed to the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs, Attn: Marion Aspden, Medical Center Boulevard, Winston-Salem, NC 27157-1021. Peter was an accomplished artist for much of his life and Nancy feels this would be the best way in which to honor him and his work.
