Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 73 years, Wanda Jean (Melton) Hanes; son, Michael “Mickey” Frank Hanes (wife Tamera (Abbott) Hanes); their children, Richelle “Ricki” Renee (Hanes) Smedley (husband Josh Smedley) and Matthew Frank Hanes; daughter, Donna Jean Hanes.
He was a member of Old Town Baptist Church for 62 years, and belonged to the Faithful Followers Sunday School Class. Ralph was a lover of music, especially the banjo. He made music with the Plank Road Bluegrass Band. He owned and operated a custom frame shop after retiring from Western Electric.
A Tribute Service with prayers with be held Thursday, August 15th at 1:00PM in Vogler Funeral and Cremations, with a Celebration of Life Reception to immediately follow at 3815 Yadkinville Road, Winston-Salem, NC. Entombment will be in Forsyth Memorial Park.
