Robert Wilson Maloney, age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 30, 2021 in Winston-Salem. He was born on March 1, 1947 in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Duke University in 1969 and then operated an antique illustrated children's books store for a time while living in the Georgetown area of Washington, D.C. In the '80's he moved back to North Carolina, where he lived the rest of his life.
Robert appreciated the finer things in life. He enjoyed traveling and good food, and was an avid collector of antique books and rare wines. Robert was also a lifelong masterful chess player who shared his love for the game with all around him.
He is survived by his two children, Catie Donadio (Benedict) and Wilson Maloney, and two grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Maloney (age 101) and his five siblings. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Charles Patrick Maloney, Jr.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 15th at Vogler Funeral & Cremations at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina from 10am to 11am for anyone who would like to pay their respects. A brief graveside service for family members will follow.
