Wesley Eugene "Gene" Hauser, a devoted husband, loving father, and faithful man of God, went home to be with the Lord on November 6, 2025, surrounded by his family who loved him deeply. He was 90 years old.
Gene lived a life filled with love, laughter, and quiet strength. He believed in hard work, doing things the right way, and treating others with kindness and respect. Whether it was a long day's work at R.J. Reynolds, helping a neighbor, or spending time with family, Gene gave his best in everything he did.
He was happiest when he was with his family-sharing meals (especially ice cream), playing in the band, watching baseball, or traveling for vacation.
Music was also a special part of Gene's life. As a proud member of the Moravian Band, he found great joy and fellowship in sharing his faith through music. The band and church community brought him deeр fulfillment and lasting friendships over the years.
Gene also enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to his garden, mowing the yard or cutting wood.
His faith was a pillar in his life. A dedicated attendee of Olivet Moravian Church, Gene's gentle spirit and steady example was an inspiration to his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Shirley Hauser; his children, Joyce Matthews (John), Janet Davis (Mike), and John Hauser (Jaime); and grandchildren, Danielle Ervin (Chad), Stacy McCorkle (Hunter), Nikki Johns (Jeremy), Brittany Thomas, Adrienne Hauser, Aaron Hauser, four great-grandchildren and extended family. He will be remembered always for his warmth, his integrity, and the love he shared.
Though his music has quieted and his chair may now be empty, the love, laughter, and faith Gene shared will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12th from 5pm to 7pm at Vogler Funeral & Cremations. The funeral service will be on Thursday at 1pm at Olivet Moravian Church with burial to follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Moravian Music Foundation, Olivet Moravian Church or Bethania Moravian Church.
