Born on April 25, 1941, in Miami, FL, Helen spent most of her life in the city she loved. She dedicated over 30 years to Miami-Dade County Public Schools, with the final 19 years serving as the registrar at her beloved G.W. Carver Elementary School.
Helen found joy in life’s simple pleasures—walking and feeding the neighborhood critters, watching the sunset, tending to her yard, doing puzzles, playing bingo with friends, thrifting with her daughter, and most of all, spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward F. Whited and Kate Whited, and her half-sister, Patricia Sullivan Dewey.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Patti Godwin (Wes), Pam Conway (Paul), and Suzanne Godwin Williamson (Ron); her cherished grandchildren, Hailey and Lucas; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Hannah and Sullivan.
Helen also leaves behind her dearest friend, Gail Miller of Coconut Grove, whose unwavering friendship was a source of constant laughter, love, and strength. The family is honored to consider Gail part of the family.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Inspired Living of Ocoee including Parveen, Risa, Suzanne, Jerry, and Maria. Deep appreciation also goes to Bluestone Physician Services, Sydney Belanger and Gentiva Hospice case manager Shirley, for their compassionate care over the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to simply make beautiful memories with the ones you love. May God bless each of you.
From Helen to her three loving daughters -
"I’m free—I could not stay another day, For peace I found at day’s close. Sorrow not—fill the void with remembered joys, Friendships shared, laughter, hugs, and tender kisses. My life’s been full, I’ve savored much. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow—And always remember...Love You More
