
WINTER HAVEN - Anne "Nancy" Langbein, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011 due to cancer, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born in Wilkes Barre, PA and is preceded in death by her parents Anna and John Canouse; sisters, Elizabeth, Marie, Joan and a brother Jack. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Chuck, daughters Maryann (Bryan) Davis of Chattanooga, TN and Joni (Chris) Browder of Maitland, FL, brother Joseph P. Canouse of Atlanta, GA, six grandchildren, Sarah, Caitlin, Emma and Alex Browder and Andrew and Mary Abigail Davis, nine nieces and nephews and 27 great nieces and nephews.
Nancy was a graduate of Wilkes Barre High School and of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She was an RN who worked in VA Hospitals in Albany and Staten Island, NY and in East Orange, NJ. She became a resident of Winter Haven in January 1959 and has lived here 52 years.
Nancy was involved in St. Joseph's Catholic School with PTA and with the church's Altar Guild, a school board member at Santa Fe Catholic High School, assistant troop leader with Heart of Florida Girl Scouts, an avid tennis player for 35 years with the Orange Slicers, a founding member of Good Shepherd Hospice, a Eucharistic Minister at St. Matthew for both the Sunday Mass and the sick. She was a charter member and past president of the Dr. Lawrence J. O'Rourk Columbiettes. She traveled extensively around the USA and the world and is a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or Cornerstone Hospice, both of Winter Haven. A Rosary will be said Friday night, July 1, at 7:00 pm and funeral mass Saturday, July 2 at 10:00 am, both at St Matthew Catholic Church 1991 Overlook Drive. Reception to follow.
