

Lake Alfred – Burton B. Boardman, 91, of Lake Alfred, Florida died December 29, 2010 at Palm Garden of Winter Haven due to CVA. He was born March 8, 1919 in Deland, FL the son of the late Alfred and Julia (Hughes) Boardman. He was a veteran of both the US Army during WWII from 1942-1945 (serving in Normandy, Central Europe, Northern France and the Rhineland) and the US Air Force from 1950-1953 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He entered the military as a cook, but took jump training and became a member of the 101st Airbourne Division. He was a store manager for Neisner Brothers (1949-1966). He was an entrepreneur. He actively pursued projects in various restaurants, retail shops and realestate development. He was a mentor and an inspiration to many young business men. He was a member of the Old Well Lodge in Norwalk, CT.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Boardman was preceded in death by his sister Leah. He is survived by his wife, of 70 years, Verna Boardman, sons Del E. Boardman and his wife Ellen of Gulf Breeze, FL, Edward L. Boardman and his wife Kelly of Jacksonville, FL, and Burton A. Boardman and his wife Kathy of Bridgeport, CT, and grandchildren Ben, Chris, Garrett and Scott.
Visitation is Sunday, January2, 2011 from 2 till 4 pm at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven. Additional visitation at 2 pm Monday, January 3, 2011 with funeral services following at 3 pm at Auburndale Community Church.
