

Grant Judson Verkler III, 66, of Winter Haven, FL passed away in Auburndale, FL on January 22, 2016. He was born in Chicago, IL on June 30, 1949 and moved to Winter Haven from Michigan City, IN five years ago. Mr. Verkler was a retired Electrician and veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1967-1973. U.S. Navy 67-73, Served in Vietnam from 69-70 on The USS Severn, and was stationed at Newport, RI. He lived in Rhode Island until 2005.
He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 4289 and D.A.V. post 023 of Michigan City, IN. He was a member of American Legion Post 8 and a past commander of American Legion Post 2 in West Warwick, RI. He was also a member of The Wall Gang in Michigan City, IN. ; National Veterans Awareness Organization (NVAO
Mr. Verkler was preceded in death by his mother, Olga Kish Verkler, his step mother, Beryl Verkler, and his daughter, Amanda Golladay. He is survived by his wife, E.A. Verkler III of Winter Haven, FL, son, Jonathan Verkler of West Warwick, RI, daughter, Alice Andreat of Bolingbrook, IL, father, Grant J. Verkler Jr. of Lena, WI, sisters, Jo Farrar, Barb Wilmot, both of Oconto, WI, Nancy Benser, and Cheryl Telford, both of Lena, WI, granddaughters, Nicole Breindel of Coventry, RI, Sage Verkler of West Warwick, RI, and Hope Robertson of Bolingbrook, IL, grandsons, John Curtis Andreat, Mark Robert Andreat, and Damian Valley, all of Bolingbrook, IL, Grandson Damian Valley of Massachusetts as well as many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL on Thursday, January 28th, at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Wall Gang, Inc. 942 Greene St. Michigan City, IN 46360
