

Director of Nursing
Winter Haven- Mrs. Helen B. Compton, age 95, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011. She was born February 27, 1916 in Logan, OH the daughter of Gene Belt and Virginia Voris Belt. She was a member of Abiding Saviour Lutheran Church and later the First Presbyterian Church where she served in the Library.
She received her certificate of nursing from Grant Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, OH. She received her BS in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati, OH. She received her M.A. in Education from Ohio State University. She was a member of the American Nurse Association, the Winter Haven Women's Club, the American Association of University Women and the Order of the Eastern Star. She has held positions as staff nurse, head nurse, nursing instructor, director of nursing of the inpatient community mental health center and coordinator of precare/aftercare services.
Mrs. Compton was preceded in death by her parents, sister and husband Willard B. Compton. She is survived by nieces Judy McGovern (John), Helen Kilkenny (Ray), nephew Mike Krumlauf (Cathy), several great nieces and nephews, close friends Mary Jo Johnson, Betty Moore and Debbie Grant.
Memorial services will be Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11 am at the Good Shepherd Hospice Residential Center, Auburndale, FL. Memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
